While we're at it, I'd like to mention tell that Russian releases of SW novels are so poorly translated, it had long become a running joke amongst the fans.
The quality of the translation reveals not only complete ignorance of SW terms (bacta = bacteria, Sun Crusher = Star Destroyer, Weequay = Wookiee, ARC = "American Red Crest" (sic!), [Outer] Rim = Rome) and history/continuity (female characters referred to as males, character's actions being described as opposed to what they actually did), but the lack of basic English and Translation skills as well: translating names like Talon and Winter, constantly mis-transcribing "J" as "Y" in proper nouns (No, we do have respective sounds and letters for both), not to mention trivial mistranslations of words and basic misunderstanding of what's actually going on on the pages.
We also had entire chapters omitted by the editors (TPM chapters 1& 2, The Paradise Snare chapter 12).
We often had translators making stuff up - as in adding sentences, lines and entire paragraphs that were not there in the original at all (TMP, AOTC, ANH, Heir to the Empire, Vision of the Future, Jedi Search to name a few examples).
As the result even the casual fans who cannot compare the text with the originals and are not well-versed in details of EU notice that the books are full of "Earth"-isms, anachronisms, out-of-place jokes and lines that could never be said by characters in those situations. Many people on Lit forums I'm on deliberately avoid buying new releases if the early readers describe them as especially bad examples.
I'm not sure if anything can affect the situation, just wanted to give you something to maybe have a few laughs at and notice that decreasing sales of our releases are in fact to blame on their poor quality.

thanks so much -- I'll follow-up with the agents in those territories.

*под "those territories" подразумевалась еще и Испания, там тоже с переводами всё плохо
